Adding Custom Link Parameters
Custom links mean that you can add specific parameters to a standard survey link. These parameter values will be passed into the survey and saved as part of the response data. For example, if you have your own user system, when setting up links for users to participate in a survey, you can introduce user information by adding parameters. This allows you to track their progress in completing the survey and to retrieve their response status and data.
Access the "Share" page, click on Go Share for Custom Link Parameters.
Parameter Lists
- Default parameter: SurveyPluto provides a default parameter - "Paramuid". This parameter is String type. This parameter can be removed if not needed.
- Question parameters: To add more specific question parameters, click the Add new button. Available types include:
Option type: Multiple Choice, Checkboxes, Rating, NPS, Rate the Choice, Rating Checkbox, and Review
String type: Single Textbox, Date, and Matrix Text
Multi-level Dropdown type: Multi-level Dropdown
NOTE: You can choose to hide these parameters from respondents.
Input Parameters
- Single parameter: For the "Paramuid" or string type parameter, bulk link and QR code generation is available. Bulk upload your parameter values to receive the corresponding links and QR codes. For the types of option and multi-level dropdown parameters, these allow direct export without the need for bulk upload.
- Multiple parameters: When using multiple parameters, custom links are generated via a "developer assembly" approach, requiring developer involvement.
Answer Throttling
The key parameter is used to control the function of Max Responses per Key Parameter. By default, this parameter is "Paramuid". After adding other parameters, you can change the control to any of these parameters.
After setting the submission limits, you can configure alerts and/or specify a redirect URL for when the limit is exceeded (URL must begin with http:// or https://).
Security Configuration
- Allow access only from custom links: After checking, survey can only be accessed through custom link parameters, and the regular survey link cannot be accessible.
- Verify parameter signature: After checking, the custom link parameters generated will include a signature field (parmsign). If someone tampers with the parameter values, the link will become invalid.
- Add expiration time: After checking, the custom link parameters generated will include an expiration timestamp field (endts). The link will become invalid after this time has passed.
- Apply this security configuration globally: After checking, the checked security configurations will be applied in all surveys.
Link parameter URL preview
To facilitate user development and debugging, any added parameters or settings can be reflected in the Link parameter URL preview, and the system also provides a generation feature, which allows for manual input of parameters for testing.
